- Space requirements: 1.5-2.4 square meters per pig.
- Vertical Bleeding: After stunning, hind legs hooked and lifted to elevated track; neck laceration; bleeding ~ 5 minutes.
- Horizontal bleeding: After shocking, the pig slides onto the conveyor, is killed and bleeds on the machine; bleeding takes place for about 3 minutes (removing about 90% of the blood).
- After bleeding, the pigs are hung on overhead rails for further processing.
- Rail height: 3600mm from floor.
- River Type: Bodies are immersed in hot water pools (58-62 °C, 4-6 minutes) and workers/tumblers rotate the bodies and even burn them.
- Suspension type: The body is scalded in a hot water pool while suspended from an elevated rail; closed system prevents heat loss (58-62 °C, 4-6 minutes).
- Mechanical: After scalding, the carcass enters the epilator; rollers and plates remove the hair.
- Spiral type: Used with steam channel scalding; the carcass slides into the spiral hair removal machine and the spiral pressure removes hair.
